IMPACT 2020 - Defining Tourism's Legacy Across Canada

Deirdre Campbell, Managing Director - Canada, Beattie Tartan

In 2017 four organizations in BC decided they wanted to host a gathering of thought leaders on what the sustainable future of tourism looks like for Canada.  Inspired by positive and negative developments in the global tourism industry, they felt Canada should be facing these challenges and opportunities sooner than later, and begin implementing best practices.   Little did they realize how important this dialogue would become. Heading into its third year this January, discussions around what the legacy of the tourism industry will be for Canada have only grown more heated and urgent. Once again IMPACT will be bringing delegates together from across the country, as well as international experts, who are concerned with the state of the industry nationally and globally and who want to be a part of a necessary and critical change. Join IMPACT co-founder Deirdre Campbell as she shares the story of how IMPACT came to be,  the insights garnered on ways Canada can become a global leader in tourism development, and actionable steps that have been shared over the past two years of provocative discussions.
